Counterterrorism is a critical component of Homeland Security in Israel. Unknown to most is the counterterrorism tactics proceeded the founding of the State of Israel. This course examines Israel’s controversial approach to counterterrorism. Details the linkage between what Issac Kfir describes as the oscillation “between Bitachon Yisodi (fundamental security threats) to Bitachon Shotef (continuous security)” and a description of how Israeli counterterrorism confronts the multiple threats that impact the security of the state. The course explores the vast and ever improving and expanding Israeli counterterrorism infrastructure. Finally, the course reveals the triumphs, failures, and internal efforts to improve Israeli counterterrorism to meet an expanding threat environment.
